LOOK!! TOWN AND COUNTRY DID A DOUBLE WHAMMY!!

My most wonderful friend and travel companion, Lisa Vorce and I set sail to an Island you are all quite familiar with....BALI. Sherry and Ben were Lisa's amazing clients that met in USA, yet now both live in Hong Kong. Sherry really wanted a soft, almost French feeling for her wedding .....yet in BALI!! ....... A little something about Lisa and I...... when we travel to various countries, we can't STAND not exploring and sourcing as many local resources possible..... "a soft feeling, almost French in style" ...OK we can do it! I will just tell you now, the party was perfect. Elegant capiz shells became our "base" element....our base for the ceremony, our base for all my floral vessels and literally a base for the gorgeous wedding cake! The ceremony was backed by a wall (yes a wall!) that was all hand inlayed by local artist to disguise a huge existing wooden carving in the Foyer at the Aman Resort. The tables were draped with a beautiful cotton organdy that had a Diaphanous floating feeling about it. The floral was displayed in a variety of opalescent capiz vessels that I combined with inlayed capiz spheres...Roses, Jasmine, Gardenia foliage, Hydrangea, Frangipani blooms and local baby spray roses created a beautiful creamy white centerpieces...that yes, had a fragrance that should be bottled. The details were endless...Lisa brought (yes with her) all of the inlayed shell silverware and each plate was displayed on a scalloped edged, capiz charger. All of our napkin rings were made from shells as well...each "petal" hand wired to resemble garden roses!....and that was just the Wedding Reception...

Now for the Rehearsal dinner.....

As Lisa and I filled our three days meeting with the local artisans, we just couldn't stop drooling over the batik textiles!!!!! The entire process of batik is so interesting to me.They believe it was introduced to Indonesia during the 6th century. It's a time consuming art using wax, fabric and dye. (AKA: wax relief) Sherry and Ben seemed excited when we threw out the idea of doing a more traditional Balinese party on Friday. With the batik textiles readily available, we had tablecloths and cushions made in two complimentary fabrics. Entire sarongs where used as flag like banners on the beach - each hanging from "bamboo goal" frames as the guests entered the event. Denpasar is the capital city of Bali and also holds the largest open air market. With a population over 500,000 (all stacked on motor scooters-wow!) I wouldn't say we were overwhelmed...more awe struck...yet successfully navigated the city with a local Liaison. Badung Market was our destination...everything was amazing and beyond what we had anticipated- The fruits, flowers, vegetables, meats, fish, colors...and yes, smells too. I immediately honed in on the various temple vessels made from red clay and some woven from banana palm. Bali has Historic Hindu temples on almost every block. Therefore offering flowers and baskets are aplenty! ...um...Table designs...DONE!!!!

VAIL, COLORADO

Martha Stuart published an amazing wedding that Lisa Vorce , Aaron Delessie and I did in Vail, Colorado. It was so, so, so beautiful...We used local pines and dried cotton bolls in hollowed out wooden stumps. The tables were draped in various wool textiles and knits. Lewis Barker brought in 35 live, full sized pine trees to create a forest like feeling in the ballroom...long wooden tables were tucked about to give the guests a sense of dining outside (yet a tad warmer!) The guests danced throughout the evening and devoured probably the most amazing candy station Lisa and I have EVER done...16 feet of pure chocolate heaven. We decide to keep the colors in the cream, tan and brown tones...We chose to display these in simple zinc containers combined with logs and tree stumps....Oh my Gosh it was so darn cute!!!! - Mindy Rice

WELCOME TO MY BLOG!

Okay I first have to apologize for the YEAR it took me to finally relaunch my website and now... A Blog! 
I have had such great opportunities over the past 10 years, traveling and experiencing new cultures...I just regret
not blogging earlier.

I think I will start with January of 2011.

Style Me Pretty published their first E-glossy...and guess what? We won "Best of 2010-Abby's Favorite Wedding" for the second year in a row! See Below! Beautifully shot by my friend Jose Villa!

Yes, Jenni and Kirk are as adorable as they look!

Jenni organized her event and I helped them design and bring it all together. They loved the soft muted tones -grays, peach, soft coral, dusty green and dusty rose. Her brides maids dresses had been selected which gave me another element to work with...soft pink fabric with a black lace detailing -How fun...Right?
